My Daddies! is a wonderful book by Gareth Peter and Garry Parsons that celebrates the diverse families within our school communities.

This is a beautifully written rhyming story about a little girl and her two dads. The story is cleverly told through the bedtime tales which the girl experiences in her new family unit. With each turn of the page, there is a different adventure. Dinosaurs, astronauts, knights and dragons are encountered by the family of three. Bedtime stories are the best, the little girl’s favourite time of the day.

Sailing to secret islands, climbing hills and running in the sand, the family journey together. And oh, what a journey it has been! One much-celebrated story must be told, and that is the little girl’s adoption story that brought her to her loving daddies. Their favourite story of all captured within the pages of a scrapbook.

This book would be a most welcome addition to any school’s library or diverse book collection, especially for younger children. It is a super introduction to different families, which are mentioned in this picturebook, two mums, two dads or a dad and a mum.
