Just Imagine and Scott Wilkie are delighted to partner to offer a series of short courses focussing on helping children make progress in English from Year 1 to Year 6.
Each course focuses on a different genre and is organized around a set of principles, at the heart of which is dialogic teaching.
Main teaching focus includes:

Progress Through reading and writing for pleasure

Planning the learning journey through text selection and teaching purpose (core texts and supplementary texts)

Making formative assessments for learning

Improving dialogic practice

Metacognitive strategies
Participants will not only gain valuable insights from the courses, but also have the unique opportunity to visit classrooms and engage in reflective discussions, fostering a sense of community and support in their professional development.
This course will be held at Scott Wilkie Primary School, the UKLA Literacy School of the Year 2024, offering educators a unique and privileged learning experience.
Dates:
Day 1 Making Progress with Poetry 7th November 2024
Day 2 Making Progress with Nonfiction 13th February 2025
Day 3 Making Progress with Visual Texts (picture books, graphic novels and magazines) 19th June 2025
The day runs from 9.30 - 2.30. Refreshments are provided. Participants should bring a packed lunch.
Cost - Individual day £200 1st teacher. Additional teachers £120
Cost for all 3 days £450 1st teacher. Additional teachers £300
